<image:caption>WCPSS E17 Sycamore Creek Elementary, Raleigh, NC (2008) - 103,415 sq. ft., 15.7 acres, 800 student capacity A courtyard approach to the prototype seemed the perfect solution to maximizing programmatic requirements on this small site. I helped to create Presentation Boards for approvals by the City of Raleigh and WCPSS Board of Education; helped to produce CAD drawings from Design Development thru Bid Documents; implemented and focused on a tight thermal envelope per WCPSS request; assisted with Interior Finish Boards; and, helped with Construction Administration, reviewing submittals, shop drawings, assisting with ASI's and any Expedition (now 'Change Management') items, E17 was built on a fast track to be completed in 9 months, due to much needed additional seats for students in Wake County, so prompt responses to questions were key. I documented all punch list items, and, after Certificate of Occupancy, completed all necessary Close-Out items, such completing As-Built Drawings and collecting O&M Manuals. I revised the layout, keeping all program requirements and produced Schematic Design sketches and an analysis for review by WCPSS Facilities. Once awarded, WCPSS decided to utilize an existing Small Kane two-story prototype and adapt it to the site and program needs. My responsibilities included Code and UL Design Review; selection, design and presentation of an Interior Finish package, including associated Specifications, for approval by Wake County Public School Facilities; and, assistance with Construction Administration, Contract Management, Punch Lists, and Close-out. <image:caption>First Floor Plan at New UNC-P Site (2015) - Initially over its desired budget, UNC-P requested we address whatever we could to have it fall into line. We proposed a Value Engineering plan and following approval by UNC-P, this project, we: (1) Trimmed the building's square footage without sacrificing much-needed programmatic areas; (2) Simplified the Mechanical System, requiring modifications to the Structural System to accommodate it; (3) Specified a new elevator; (4) Revised all interior finishes, including a sliding door; and, (5) Changed the Curtain wall system to Storefront. I assisted with these revisions in drawings, schedules, and specifications. UNC-P also requested a private entry for counseling and selected a new site, so utility infrastructure was also re-coordinated. At the same time, we also addressed all State Construction Office Review Comments.</image:caption>

<image:caption>2300 Hales Rd. Addition, Raleigh, NC (2012) - 420 sq. ft. heated addition, 310 sq. ft. unheated addition This couple approached me to focus on improving their home's sadly lacking curb appeal. Sustainable and natural products were important to incorporate for the Owners as well. I addressed their request in several ways: (1) I broke down the original boxy 1990's volume by adding a much desired second story Office and Meditation Rooms; (2) I collaborated with them on what else might make this home more approachable; and, from this, a recommendation for a Wrap-around Porch developed; and, finally, (3) We clad the exterior with natural materials, such as the cedar shake and batt-n-board siding, rough-hewn timber columns and brackets to support the addition, and added stone to the porch floor and paths. Paint selections, wrought iron railings and metal roofing at both the porch and rain tables also help to make the home more cozy and inviting!</image:caption>

<image:caption>3708 Old Lassiter Mill Rd. Addition, Raleigh, NC (2012) - 830 sq. ft. heated & 300 sq. ft. unheated addition This small addition packs some punch. The family requested a new Breakfast and Extended Family Room to be opened up to a remodeled Kitchen and Butlers' Pantry downstairs. I recommended that a Covered Porch and Fireplace would further extend the use of the Family Room, during warm seasons. Upstairs we enlarged the footprint of the existing small Master Bathroom, added a large walk-in Laundry Room and Walk-in Closet, all stacked above the addition below. Downstairs, we also extended an existing one-story Guest Bedroom and renovated Bathroom. Opening the spaces to adjacent rooms and the Covered Porch extension transformed this beauty! <image:caption>1810 Sunset Dr., Raleigh, NC (2015) - 2,800 sq, ft, new heated, 350 sq. ft. new unheated, 0.24 acres Initially, my clients wanted to explore renovating an existing home in Five Points and addition using Historic Tax Credits. We finished designs for this and met with the City of Raleigh Historic Tax Credit officials. With no guarantee for approval following final building and a clause that would not allow any apparent change be seen from the street, we regrouped to plan for their home. New construction would avoid the uncertainty of this approval and allow my client to incorporate their own unique wishes, gaining exactly the new desired footprint for their 'forever' home. It also yielded an unexpected cost savings to build. The new City of Raleigh U.D.O. guidelines for height and setbacks from property lines for a skinny lot set tight parameters for design, but regardless, this family ended up with a beautiful new home that fits into the historic neighborhood seamlessly! My responsibilities included coordination of an Interiors Package for drawings and pricing purposes. This included multiple floor and wall tiles, carpets, countertop surfaces, moldings, lighting, paint, and wall coverings. Attended Owner meetings. Corrected and produced interior elevations, door and finish schedules and signage package. Owner 'value engineered' interiors package prior to construction, and then re-inserted Interiors Package as an add alternate with InterWorks Architects (Northbrook, Ill.), during Construction. I assisted with coordinating the implementation of their directives and made recommen-dations. Additionally, I helped coordinate of Structural and FP & PME with architectural drawings, by producing RFI's and ASI's during Construction. Helped to size draw, specify and select copper finial at Cupola, display cases, and other similar items for project. (Click on the picture for additional images.)</image:caption>

<image:caption>PNC (formerly RBC) Arena Club Level Suite Renovations (2011) and PNC (formerly RBC) Arena Club Level Lounges (anticipate renovation early 2016) For Suite Renovations, I produced CAD construction drawings, coordinated FP & MEP (i.e., new sprinkler head locations), and assisted with Finish selections for all suites. For the Club Level Lounges, we reviewed the Code for Egress Requirements, produced drawings to completely remodel the existing four Kitchens, detailed new Lounge and Eating Bars which included sneeze guards with integrated heat lamps, placed and provided for hot bar equipment, coolers, Panini presses, soda and beer drinking taps. Placement for equipment required consideration for rated walls and ceilings and their associated UL Listings. We detailed monolithic glass guardrails which overlook the monumental Stair and all Lounge pedestal lounge counter tops. I coordinated additional requirements with Interiors and PME consultants. We also facilitated Owner Express Review by filing all necessary papers and attending review.</image:caption>

<image:caption>CHFC Harvest Dental Clinic, Princeville, NC (October 2017 groundbreaking)- 7,635 sq, ft. This represents an in-house charette modeled in SketchUp to design the exterior of a new dental office, paid for with federal funding. It replaces dilapidated mobile units on site. The design became a collaboration of two models- mine and another colleague's. I also assisted plans during the SD phase, and later in DD and CD phase with wall sections and selection of materials; determining construction phasing of existing to new on tight acreage; and attended all client meetings.</image:caption>
